Ascending Masada by the Western entrance takes around 20 minutes following a steep, but short path (100 meter ascent). The path starts at the Western car park of Massada. This historic path was first carved out by Byzantine monks.
The ceremony on Masada needs to be pre-booked directly with the Masada National Park. This service is not included in our package. It is each individual group’s responsibility to make this booking.
Kfar Hanokdim is an oasis that lies between the city of Arad and Masada National Park. It is situated 11 kilometers from the Western entrance of the Park. Kfar Hanokdim is the perfect base for trips to Masada National Park and touring the Judean desert.

This amazing fortress is a symbol of the kingdom of Israel, the destruction and the exile of the Isralite people in the first century. The tragic story of the Jewish people, holding this fortress makes Massada a symbol of Jewish cultural identity and the constant human struggle between oppression and freedom.
Between March and October a special sound and light show depicts the story of this historical place (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 21:00 – 22:00). The entire side of the mountain is incorporated in the light show.
